Job summary

Brightwater Senior Living of Linden Pointe is seeking a kitchen professional to prepare nutritious meals for residents and guests. You will work as a team to ensure efficient, safe operation of the kitchen and dining room, receive orders, prepare and serve food, and restock items.

You will clear tables, maintain high standards of food quality, and participate in ongoing training. Two years of institutional or full‑service restaurant cooking experience and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

  • Two years of institutional or full-service restaurant cooking.
  • Ability to convert measurements for scaled recipes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Meet health-related requirements and maintain food handler permits.
  • Maintain certifications as required by regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritious, appetizing meals for residents and guests as part of a kitchen team.
  • Receive orders, prepare and serve food and beverages, restock items in the dining area.
  • Clear and clean tables, chairs, counters, and display cases; uphold safety and sanitation standards.
  • Provide exceptional quality food and service following Brightwater menus and physician orders when applicable.
  • Attend scheduled training seminars and staff meetings; review menus and production records.

Description
Position Summary:

Prepare nutritious, appetizing, and attractive meals.Work as a team member with other employees to assure efficient and safe operation of the kitchen and the dining room.Receive food and beverage orders, prepare and serve food and beverages, serve, and restock items in bistro.Clear and clean tables and chairs, counters, display case(s). Provide exceptional quality food and service to all residents, guests and coworkers by performing essential duties effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications
  • Have two years’ experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking.
  • Ability to prepare varying quantities of set recipes by converting common measurements and equivalents using addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g. patterns of numbers, letters, words, mathematical operations.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Meet state or provincial health related requirements.
  • Maintain Food Handlers permit as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Carry trays and supplies.
  • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods.
  • Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters.
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to standard recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Portions arrange and garnish food in a timely manner.
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing them with utensils.
  • Uphold the standards and expectations of food quality and production set forth by Brightwater.
  • Perform scheduled cleaning, stocking, and rotation and maintenance tasks set by Chef.
  • Attending scheduled training seminars and staff meetings.
  • Review menus and Daily Food Production Record for instructions.
  • Prepare meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and attractive according to Brightwater menus and recipes as well as to physician orders for diet, diet texture, and liquidthickness.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.

  • Demonstrate ability to perform duties under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Attend education and training classes as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
