Job summary

Brightwater Senior Living in Cobourg is seeking a dedicated dining room server to provide exceptional service to residents, guests, and coworkers. You will serve meals efficiently and courteously while upholding Brightwater standards.

The role requires strong communication, composure, and confidentiality, with responsibilities including greeting residents, taking orders, serving beverages and meals, and assisting with table setup and cleanup.

Qualifications

  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain required certifications per regulations.
  • Remain calm when dealing with upset guests.
  • Operate POS system, process payments, balance till end of shift.
  • Keep resident, employee and community information confidential.

Responsibilities

  • Greet residents and visitors at table and take orders.
  • Serve meals: lunch and dinner in a courteous, efficient manner.
  • Ensure correct menu placement and bussing assistance.
  • Prepare server station and maintain cleanliness of tables and chairs.
  • Assist with housekeeping and laundry duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Provide exceptional service to all residents, guests and coworkers by performing essential duties effectively and efficiently. Serve meals to residents in an efficient, courteous and friendly manner, all the while holding up Brightwaters standard and expectations.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain any other certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Ability to remain calm when confronted with angry guests.
  • Ability to operate P.O.S. computer, make correct change, process credit card transactions and balance at the end of shift.
  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Responsibilities for Lunch and Dinner:
  • Assure menu holders are clean, correct menu is in menu holders, and placed on table.
  • Assist with bussing tables after first course served and at end of meal.
  • Clean and sanitize tables and chairs.
  • Sanitize placemats and set on tables.
  • Spot clean and vacuum carpet.
  • Clean table and chair legs (monthly).
  • Prepare server station for lunch and supper.
  • Serve fresh bread in basket per assigned meal.
  • Serve lunch and dinner
  • Greet residents (and visitors if applicable) at table before taking orders or serving.
  • Politely and efficiently take meal orders and deliver them to kitchen.
  • Assure adaptive equipment is present for residents who require it.
  • Serve beverages, cereals, soups, salads, meals, and desserts.
  • Complete side duties, such as adding sugar and creamer packets, cleaning beverage center, etc.
  • Perform housekeeping and laundry duties as assigned.
Other Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all community policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to dress/appearance code. (Changes in attire may be permitted for special circumstances as directed by your supervisor).
  • Perform all assigned work for the agreed-upon wage, accepting no additional payment or gifts from residents, vendors, or others.
  • Promote resident advocacy and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Serve as a role model for other employees by displaying a responsible, cooperative, respectful, and positive attitude.
  • Represent the community in the community at large in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform duties under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Attend education and training classes as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
