Job summary

Brightwater Senior Living Group is seeking a Health Services Manager to address health-related resident issues, support front-line staff, and participate in on-call rotations. The role includes staffing coverage, service plan oversight, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualified candidates hold an active RN or LPN/LVN license with CPR/first aid certifications, strong management and communication skills,

Responsibilities

  • Oversee health services for assigned residents and address issues with potential health impacts.
  • Coordinate on-call rotation with Health Care Leaders and cover staffing when needed.
  • Lead staffing, recruitment, and supervision of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs and Resident Assistants.
  • Ensure service plan reviews occur per policy and attend meetings.
  • Monitor adherence to regulations and ensure physician orders are reviewed and filed correctly.

Position Summary:

Assure health services issues of assigned residents are addressed, as well as other service issues that have a potential impact upon the health of residents. Working shifts and supporting front line staff when needed.Part of the on-call rotation with RCMs and the other Health Care Leaders. Responsible for covering staffing when needed. May work any shifts, day, pm, NOC and weekends, and or holidays to support to care for the residents.

Qualifications:
  • Strong Management Skills, including strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Meet state or provincial health related requirements.
  • Maintain current professional license (RN or LPN/LVN).
  • Maintain CPR and first aid certification.
  • Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.

All responsibilities are to be performed within the scope of practice per state or provincial regulations.

  • Perform health services duties, including but not limited to:
  • Ø Completing monthly work schedule for Resident Assistants;
  • Ø Obtaining replacement Resident Assistants in case of absences;
  • Ø Assisting Health Services Director in assuring that Resident Assistants offer services according to service plan and perform other duties according to Daily Assignments;
  • Ø Assure service plan review meetings occur per policy; and
  • Ø Attending service plan review meetings.
  • Assure stable staff of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants by recruiting, hiring, supervising, evaluating, counseling, and, if necessary, terminating employees.
  • Assure Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are educated and trained using available Resource Manuals, assure Resident Assistants are educated and trained in Memory Care Resource.
  • Assure regular competency evaluations of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are completed.
  • Ø Assure medications and treatments are administered as ordered, including by reviewing missed medications report.
  • Ø Assure parameters for administration of PRN medications and treatments are entered MAR.
  • Ø Assure appropriate diagnosis for medications and treatments are entered on MAR.
  • Ø Address issues regarding unavailable medications or treatment supplies
  • Establish weight regimens, assure weights are entered on MAR or other appropriate location, and address all significant weight changes.
  • Establish vital sign regimens and related notification parameters; assure entered on MAR and adhered to.
  • Monitor alert charting, especially to assure appropriate employee response to issues.
  • Monitor inter-shift health services report.
  • Monitor Communication Log.
  • Monitor and address consulting pharmacy reports.
  • Complete review of Resident Incident Reports.
  • Advise health services employees concerning resident health issues, by telephone if not in community (carries cellular telephone).
  • Effectively utilize and coordinate services with home health, hospice, and other agencies.
  • Assure physician orders are reviewed, sent to physician, and returned with physician signatures quarterly.
  • Perform all responsibilities related to delegation of nursing tasks to unlicensed staff (in states or provinces in which such delegation is utilized).
  • Investigate controlled substance count discrepancies.
  • Assure controlled substances are destroyed as necessary per policy and state or provincial regulations.
  • Monitor to assure Garden Daily Assignments duties are performed.
  • Monitor to assure Arbor Daily Assignments duties are performed.
  • Perform quality assurance audits as directed.
  • Effectively communicate with residents, their family members, and other concerned parties.
  • Effectively communicate with physicians and other health care professionals involved with services to residents.
  • Assure compliance with all federal and state or provincial regulations pertaining to health services.
  • Maintain Daily Assignment system.
  • Monitor to assure Arbor and Garden Daily Assignments duties are performed.
  • Assure physician orders, laboratory reports, and other data is scanned and filed in resident chart.
  • Maintain Tracking Reports binder per policy.
  • Assist health services employees with duties as necessary.
  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees).
Other Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all community policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to dress/appearance code. (Changes in attire may be permitted for special circumstances as directed by your supervisor).

  • Attend education and training classes as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
