Job summary

Brightwater Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Dishwasher to join our dining services team. You will wash and store dishes, assist with meal service, and help maintain a clean, safe kitchen and dining area.

You will work with staff to ensure quick, courteous service while upholding health and sanitation standards. Training and teamwork are emphasized for a smooth daily operation.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Meet state or provincial health related requirements.
  • Maintain required certifications as per regulations.
  • Read menus and communicate resident needs clearly.
  • Hear clearly in loud environments.
  • Able to carry trays and supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident, employee and community information.

Responsibilities

Description

Position Summary:

Prepare, wash, and store dishes. Assist with serving meals and bussing tables. Work as a team member with other employees to assure efficient, safe operation of the kitchen and the dining room.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Meet state or provincial health related requirements.
  • Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Ability to read menus and clearly communicate resident needs.
  • Ability to hear well amongst loud background noise.
  • Able to carry trays and supplies.
  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Provide employees, residents and guests with clean and sanitized utensils, plate ware, glassware and equipment.
  • Ensure dishes are sanitized and available as necessary.
  • Always keeps sanitation solution up to health department code standards.
  • Sets up the dish machine in the AM and close down the dish machine in the PM according to procedures.
  • Maintains daily cleanliness and maintenance of dish machine.
  • Complete Dishwasher Temperature Log at required times.
  • Washes plate ware, glassware, silverware, pots/pans and kitchen utensils according to sanitation and cleaning procedures.
  • Places clean plate ware, glassware, silverware, and pots/pans in specified shelves according to sanitation and cleaning procedures.
  • Keeps kitchen clean by sweeping, mopping floors, lining and emptying trash.
  • Cleans and sanitizes throughout shift.
  • Completes assigned prep work and cleaning duties.
  • Trouble-shoots dishwasher machine malfunction.
  • Attend scheduled training seminars and staff meetings.
  • Assist with setting tables, serving meals and bussing tables.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.

  • Adhere to all community policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to dress/appearance code. (Changes in attire may be permitted for special circumstances as directed by your supervisor).
  • Perform all assigned work for the agreed-upon wage, accepting no additional payment or gifts from residents, vendors, or others.
  • Promote resident advocacy and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Serve as a role model for other employees by displaying a responsible, cooperative, respectful, and positive attitude.
  • Represent the community in the community at large in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform duties under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Attend education and training classes as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
