Job summary

Amenida Senior Community is seeking a Cook to join our on-site team in a casual, part-time capacity. The role demands preparing and serving meals for residents with an emphasis on taste, presentation, and dietary needs.

You will support kitchen operations and ensure sanitary, safe food handling throughout each shift. Hours typically span 6:30am-2:30pm or 10:30am-6:30pm EST, with on-call, weekend, and holiday flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking in a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a senior care or institutional setting.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Korean cuisine experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve home-cooked meals for a large group of residents.
• Plan and prep meals for the current and following day.
• Assist the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas per health regulations.
• Adhere to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
• Support lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Hours: 6:30am-2:30pm or 10:30am-6:30pm EST

Pay: $18.52

Your Day to Day:
As a Cook at Amenida Senior Community, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and serving home-cooked meals using fresh, real ingredients for a large group of residents.
• Planning and prepping meals for the current and following day.
• Assisting the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
• Ensuring proper food presentation and portion control.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas in accordance with health regulations.
• Supporting kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas according to established standards.
• Adhering to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
• Focusing on preparing authentic Korean cuisine to meet the cultural and dietary preferences of residents.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Proven experience cooking in a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a senior care or institutional setting.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Strong understanding of and experience in Korean cuisine (preferred).
• Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks related to food service.
• Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hire, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, in accordance with applicable provincial and federal regulations.
