Job summary

Prima Living in Aurora, Ontario, is seeking a Cook for on-call casual openings onsite at Amenida Senior Community. You will prepare and serve home-cooked meals for residents, plan daily menus, and support kitchen operations while maintaining high sanitation and safety standards.

The role emphasizes large-batch cooking with attention to dietary needs and presentation, plus flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Proven experience cooking in a busy kitchen, preferably in a senior care or institutional setting.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Strong understanding of and experience in Korean cuisine (preferred).
• Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks in food service.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Criminal background check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening, prior to hire.

Pay: $19.42

Your Day to Day:

As a Cook at Amenida Senior Community, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and serving home-cooked meals using fresh, real ingredients for a large group of residents.
• Planning and prepping meals for the current and following day.
• Assisting the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
• Ensuring proper food presentation and portion control.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas in accordance with health regulations.
• Supporting kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas according to established standards.
• Adhering to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
• Focusing on preparing authentic Korean cuisine to meet the cultural and dietary preferences of residents.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Proven experience cooking in a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a senior care or institutional setting.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Strong understanding of and experience in Korean cuisine (preferred).
• Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks related to food service.
• Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hire, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, in accordance with applicable provincial and federal regulations.
