Job summary

Prima Living, part of the Primacorp group, is seeking a Cook for Amenida Senior Community in Canada. The role reports to the Food Service Manager and offers on-call, casual/part-time openings onsite with early mornings and afternoon shifts.

You will prepare home-style meals for residents, focus on Korean-inspired dishes, ensure food safety, and support the kitchen team in daily operations while maintaining high standards of presentation and sanitation.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking in busy kitchen environments, preferably in senior care or institutional settings.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation and dietary requirements.
• Strong understanding of Korean cuisine (preferred).
• Willingness to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks related to food service.
• Must pass criminal background check including Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve home-cooked meals for a large group of residents.
• Plan and prep meals for current and following day.
• Assist the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
• Ensure proper food presentation and portion control.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in all food prep areas.
• Support kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing long periods.
• Clean kitchen equipment and work areas per standards.
• Adhere to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
• Prepare authentic Korean cuisine to meet residents' cultural and dietary preferences.

Job Status: On call Casual / Part-time Openings, Onsite

Hours: 6:30am-2:30pm or 10:30am-6:30pm EST

Pay: $18.52

Your Day to Day

As a Cook at Amenida Senior Community, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and serving home-cooked meals using fresh, real ingredients for a large group of residents.
• Planning and prepping meals for the current and following day.
• Assisting the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
• Ensuring proper food presentation and portion control.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas in accordance with health regulations.
• Supporting kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas according to established standards.
• Adhering to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
• Focusing on preparing authentic Korean cuisine to meet the cultural and dietary preferences of residents.

What You Bring to the Table

• Proven experience cooking in a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a senior care or institutional setting.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Strong understanding of and experience in Korean cuisine (preferred).
• Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks related to food service.
• Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hire, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, in accordance with applicable provincial and federal regulations.
