Job summary

Eleonore Mine is seeking a Control Room Supervisor to lead management of underground automated systems, including ventilation, blasting, and seismic monitoring. You will collect and analyze data to improve mining operations and ensure safety compliance.

The role requires strong analytical abilities, team coordination, and a proactive approach to process improvement, within a 14/14 shift schedule at the Eleonore site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in underground mining operations.
• Completed Mining Training Modules (F.M.T.M.) or equivalent mining certifications.
• Bilingual (English and French).

Responsibilities

• Manage emergency situations including mercaptan releases and emergency response mobilization.
• Oversee alarms generated by underground systems.
• Follow procedures of the Control Room Technician and develop missing procedures; initiate IsoVision reports after incidents.
• Ensure effective ventilation management during and between shifts and during blasting gas clearing.
• Ensure compliance with blasting protocols including personnel verification, ventilation shutdowns, louvers, and SMART BLAST operation.
• Coordinate return-to-work after gas clearing activities and workplace closures.
• Monitor Ventilation on Demand (VOD) system.
• Monitor seismic system and activate protocols during seismic events.
• Maintain up-to-date reports on mobile equipment fleet and create work orders for repairs.
• Maintain control room records and analyze data for continuous improvement.
• Process daily orders for materials and tools for underground work.
• Adhere to and promote health and safety policies.
• Perform all other duties related to the position.

About the role

The Control Room Supervisor is part of the Mining Operations team. The incumbent is primarily responsible for managing various underground automated systems, including ventilation (VOD system), blasting, pumping, compressed air, fuel, power consumption, fixed equipment, tele-remote operation, seismic monitoring systems, ISAAC alerts, and other related systems. The incumbent is also responsible for collecting and analyzing data generated by these systems.

• Manage emergency situations, including mercaptan releases and the mobilization of emergency response teams.
• Oversee alarms generated by the various underground systems.
• Follow established procedures related to the responsibilities of the Control Room Technician. Participate in the development of missing procedures and initiate IsoVision reports following incidents and accidents.
• Ensure effective ventilation management during and between shifts, as well as during the clearing of blasting gases.
• Ensure compliance with blasting protocols, including verification of underground personnel, shutdown of ventilation fans, opening and/or closing ventilation louvers, and operation of the SMART BLAST system.
• Coordinate the return-to-work following gas clearing activities and workplace closures.
• Monitor the proper operation of the Ventilation on Demand (VOD) system.
• Monitor the seismic system and activate the appropriate protocols during seismic events.
• Maintain up-to-date reports on the status of the mobile equipment fleet and create work orders for planned repairs.
• Maintain control room records and analyze data collected through existing software systems to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of mining operations.
• Process daily orders for materials and tools required for underground work while meeting prescribed deadlines.
• Understand, comply with, and promote company policies and regulations, particularly those relating to health and safety.
• Perform all other duties related to the position.

Training & Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in underground mining operations.
• Completed Mining Training Modules (F.M.T.M.) or equivalent mining certifications.
• Bilingual (English and French).
