Job description

Falcon Contracting Ltd. and Falcon Camp Services Inc. are a locally owned and operated group of companies based in Prince George, BC. We are a diverse organization specializing in heavy civil construction management and construction services and turn-key camps and catering services.

Primary Purpose:

Falcon Contracting Ltd is currently seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and enthusiastic individual to join our team in our Prince George office. Falcon Group is seeking a part-time Contracts Specialist responsible for managing all aspects of contract lifecycles, from drafting and negotiation to execution/administration. This role requires a legal background, a strong understanding of contract law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with management. The Contracts Specialist will ensure that contracts align with organizational objectives and comply with applicable laws and regulations

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and approve a variety of contracts, including but not limited to supplier agreements, lease agreements, service contracts, MOUs, and confidentiality agreements ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory bodies, and applicable laws
  • Ensure that contracts accurately reflect the terms and conditions agreed upon by all parties involved
  • Ability to collaborate with management and legal counsel to address complex legal issues and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Draft tender documents and manage the tendering process for RFQs (Request for Quotation) and RFPs (Request for Proposal)
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive contract management system to track key milestones, deadlines, deliverables and obligations
  • Monitor contract performance and compliance and initiate necessary actions to address deviations from agreed-upon terms
  • Maintain a centralized repository for all contracts and related documents ensuring all amendments, and renewals are processed in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with external parties to negotiate the best value and favorable terms and conditions
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with contracts and propose strategies to mitigate such risks
  • Guide risk allocation and develop contingency plans for potential contract disputes
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations that may impact contract terms and conditions
  • Ensure that contracts adhere to company policies and comply with legal,regulatory, and industry safety requirements
  • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Solid background in legal principles related to contracts and procurement in a corporate setting
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of contract law, legal terminology, and contract drafting
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in corporate contract law required
  • Proven experience as a Contracts Specialist or in a similar role, experience in the civil construction sector desired
