Job description

The Contract, Operations Analyst will provide a wide range of engineering support services to ensure the technical soundness, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Operations Analyst is responsible for data management, data analytics, and business process improvements related to Grid Operational Technologies and Reliability Reporting. The incumbent will play a critical role in shaping SCADA, NMS, and other critical application enhancement and upgrade activities through gap analysis, business process planning, and stakeholder collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Connect with stakeholders to identify, capture, and analyze business requirements.
  2. Analyze large data sets and multiple variables, and present recommendations through reports, process maps, graphs, charts, or tables.
  3. Assist with building and maintaining the SCADA database and displays.
  4. Support reliability reporting across Distribution Grid Operations by analyzing outage information and recommending improvements.
  5. Perform trend analyses of equipment data to optimize capital and operational programs.
  6. Support operational design reviews for primary electrical projects.
  7. Conduct load transfer studies and participate in contingency planning.
  8. Assist in project coordination, delivery, and execution.
  9. Maintain and develop databases and decision support systems.
  10. Suggest and implement process and procedure enhancements for departmental efficiency.
  11. Define project scope, draft business cases, conduct feasibility studies, and perform cost-benefit analyses.
  12. Support management and technology systems, including enterprise systems like SAP, data management, and reporting.
  13. Stay updated with industry developments and practices.
  14. Work in accordance with safety standards and promote a safety culture.
REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Graduation in 2024 or 2025 with a university degree in Engineering.
  2. Knowledge of utility operations is an asset.
  3. Proficient in data management, capable of querying and analyzing large data sets; intermediate programming knowledge (e.g., R, Python, C/C++, VBA) is an asset.
  4. Knowledge of Tableau, Alteryx, and/or SAP is an asset.
  5. Knowledge of electrical and distribution power systems is an asset.
  6. Experience with machine learning and neural networks in practical applications is an asset.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Project, Access, and Word.
  8. Understanding of project management principles.
  9. Strong business, strategic, and communication skills.
  10. Ability to build relationships and foster a positive organizational culture.
  11. Commitment to safety, sustainability, and customer focus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Toronto Hydro offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing remote work up to three days per week, with onsite presence as needed. Candidates must reside in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
