Job summary

LAURIN is seeking a Project Accountant to ensure the financial success of construction projects. You will handle invoices, payments, ad hoc reporting, and budgeting support while collaborating with project managers and contractors.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in Excel. CMiC experience is a strong asset. This role offers growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles.
• Leadership in supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff.
• Experience with general ledger management and account reconciliations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for complex financial issues.
• Effective communication with management, auditors, vendors and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of finance rules and regulations relevant to the construction industry.
• Ability to maintain confidential and highly sensitive information.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple deadlines.
• Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with CMiC is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor junior accounts payable clerks.
• Handle complex or escalated disputes with vendors or internal stakeholders.
• Ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Organize and file all project invoices in a high throughput environment.
• Review and monitor project budgets and forecasts.
• Track project costs, revenues and cashflows.
• Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions related to projects.
• Ensure timely and accurate billings with supporting packages.
• Work with project managers to develop cost-saving strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
• Maintain and update project accounting systems and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits as required.
• Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Provide financial guidance and support to project teams.
