Job summary

Your Impact at LAURIN

As a Project Accountant, you are directly responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This includes invoice processing and payments, ad hoc financial reporting, billing, collections and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Project Accountant will work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the financial success of each project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train and mentor junior accounts payable clerks, providing guidance and support.
  • Handle complex or escalated disputes with vendors or internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Organize and file all project invoices in a high‑throughput environment.
  • Review and monitor project budgets and forecasts.
  • Track project costs, revenues and cashflows.
  • Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions related to projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billings with supporting packages.
  • Work with project managers to develop cost‑saving strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain and update project accounting systems and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to project teams.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required by the organization’s needs.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting.
  • In‑depth knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Leadership in supervising and mentoring the junior members of the accounting team.
  • Experience with general ledger management and account reconciliations.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for complex financial issues.
  • Effective communication with management, auditors, vendors and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of finance rules and regulations relevant to the construction industry.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize accordingly to effectively manage multiple deadlines.
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with CMiC is considered a strong asset.
Education & Professional Credentials
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • CPA designation or working towards designation is considered an asset.

  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada. Please note that LAURIN does not provide or assume sponsorship for work permits or visas.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance (Secret clearance is considered an asset).
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in Canada (e.g., valid work permit or Social Insurance Number). All offers of employment are conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance.
Estimated Compensation

The salary range for this role is $60,000 — $80,000 based on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed in your personalized offer.
