Job summary

LAURIN, Calgary-based construction firm, is seeking a Project Accountant to oversee financials for construction projects, including invoicing, reporting, and cost tracking. You will collaborate with project managers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure financial success throughout the project lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of accounting experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with CMiC and Excel. CPA is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles.
• Leadership in supervising junior staff.
• Experience with general ledger management and reconciliations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of construction finance rules and regulations.
• Ability to handle confidential information and multi-deadline work.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with CMiC is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor junior accounts payable clerks.
• Handle disputes with vendors or internal stakeholders.
• Process invoices and payments timely and accurately.
• Organize and file all project invoices in a high throughput environment.
• Review and monitor project budgets and forecasts.
• Track project costs, revenues and cash flows.
• Maintain detailed records of all project financial transactions.
• Ensure timely billings with supporting packages.
• Develop cost-saving strategies with project managers.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
• Maintain and update project accounting systems and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits as required.
