Job summary

VP Realty is seeking a Compensation Specialist to ensure accurate processing of payroll and compensation data while maintaining compliance with regulations. You will work closely with the HR Manager and COO, support the development of compensation strategies, and respond to employee inquiries in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of full-cycle Canadian payroll experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll and benefits requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

  • Prepare and enter payroll transactions in accordance with payroll deadlines.
  • Maintain and update employee records including attendance and leave.
  • Administer staff benefit plans including pension and RRSP.

Job description

The Compensation Specialist works closely with the HR Manager and COO to ensure :

  • Accurate and timely processing of compensation and payroll data
  • Compliance with compensation-related regulations
  • Effective support for the development of compensation strategies
  • Prompt responses to employee payroll and benefits inquiries
  • Administrative assistance for performance reviews and salary adjustments

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and enter payroll transactions in accordance with payroll deadlines.
  • Balance payroll entries and assist in audit preparations.
  • Recommend and implement best practices for payroll procedures.
  • Maintain and update employee records (attendance, leave, overtime).
  • Produce payroll reports, submit pension contributions, resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to pay-related inquiries and manage letters, deductions, and taxable benefits.
  • Manage group benefit enrollments, terminations, and dependent processes.
  • Oversee extended leaves and return-to-work plans.
  • Support year-end payroll reconciliation, including T4s and T2200s.
  • Administer staff benefit plans including pension, RRSP, and Work Safe BC.
  • Assist with onboarding and background checks.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Payroll, HR, Business, or related field
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent certification (asset)
  • 1–2 years of full-cycle Canadian payroll experience
  • Experience with Dayforce (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll and benefits requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and payroll systems
  • High integrity and professionalism when handling confidential data
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
  • Hybrid workplace, enabling both office time and work from home.
  • Attend the Toronto work office as needed in accordance with company policy.
