Job summary

Cogir Senior Living seeks a dedicated Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and staff across our retirement residences. You will review menus, follow standardized recipes, and ensure safe food handling while meeting therapeutic diet requirements.

The role requires lifting heavy items, standing long shifts, and adherence to provincial regulations. Experience in healthcare kitchens and a Food Handler's Certificate are highly valued, with Red Seal preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare or retirement settings.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of and experience with special and therapeutic diets.
• Physical ability to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for most of the shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check within six months or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets prior to cooking; ensure proper serving.
• Adhere to proper food handling techniques and conduct temperature audits.
• Prepare foods for therapeutic/special diets and record substitutions.
• Follow production charts within a set budget and comply with regulations.
