Job summary

Cogir Senior Living seeks an Assistant Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests, and staff in a healthcare retirement setting. Reporting to the Culinary Manager, you will review menus, follow production sheets, and ensure meals are served attractively while maintaining strict food-handling safety.

You will prepare meals for therapeutic diets, adhere to schedules, and participate in quality improvement and training. A Food Handler's Certificate is required; Red Seal is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare or retirement setting.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver foods for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets and serve meals attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques and safety.
• Complete daily temperature audits for fridge, freezers, and storerooms.
• Prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/special diets and record substitutions.
• Adhere to service times, production charts, and budgets.
• Follow health and safety legislation and department policies.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
