Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and staff across its retirement residences in Canada. You will review menus, ensure proper food handling, and support therapeutic diets while working to schedule and budget targets.

You must have a Food Handler's Certificate; Red Seal is preferred. The role requires lifting heavy items, standing for long periods, and a background in healthcare or retirement settings.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or retirement setting.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of and experience with special and therapeutic diets.
• Must be physically able to lift/transfer heavy items and stand for long shifts.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Must provide Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver all foods for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets; prepare and serve meals attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques are used.
• Complete daily temperature audits for fridge, freezers and storerooms.
• Prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/special diets per planned menus.
• Record menu substitutions in designated locations.
• Adhere to service time schedules and production charts within budget.
• Comply with provincial/municipal regulations and dietary policies.
• Participate in planning/preparing theme meals and special occasions.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and promote Resident Rights.
• Contribute to Quality Improvement and follow health & safety procedures.
