Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Personal Support Worker to provide compassionate personal care and assist residents with daily living activities under the supervision of a Client Service Supervisor. You will help with mobility, meals, and safety while maintaining dignity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker program (or provincial equivalent certificate with minimum 600 hours in Ontario & Alberta)
• Experience working with seniors in community health services
• Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
• Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification
• Ability to perform lifting/transferring tasks
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the plan of care as determined by the supervisor
• Assist residents with personal care and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to supervisor
• Elevate medical emergencies to supervisor or EMS as appropriate
• Assist in preparing nutritious meals as required
• Assist with ambulation, mobility, and transfers
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to residents/families
• Maintain resident information confidentiality
• Ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and equipment
• Respond to concerns and escalate within decision-making authority
