Job summary

Extendicare, a leading care provider in Canada, is seeking a Part-time Guest Attendant to assist with personal care tasks aligned to each resident's plan of care. The role emphasizes empathy, strong communication, and safe handling of transfers to support resident well-being.

You will work within a team, delivering one-on-one care, guiding residents through daily activities, and maintaining a warm, safe environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or working towards high school diploma.
• Ability to perform tasks necessary for the position (lifting/transferring clients).
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Background Check or be willing to obtain one.
• Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and patience.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Strong and personable communication skills.
• Previous experience with seniors or in a service industry.
• Desire to work in a service-driven environment with customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the plan of care as determined by supervisor.
• Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with residents, families, and employees.
• Provide one-on-one care as needed.
• Assist with day-to-day services to promote comfort and safety.
• Support safe lifts and transfers of residents.
• Guide residents to rooms, activities, dining, and care areas.
• Act as resident companion and provide comfort and support.
• Assist with general duties (organizing, restocking, making beds, dressing).
• Assist with ambulation, mobilisation, transfers, and adaptive aids.
• Demonstrate understanding of resident needs and maximize abilities.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
