Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time PSW/HCA/CCA to provide direct resident care in a Canadian long-term care home. You will assist with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming, and support activity participation with residents and families.

Qualifications

• PSW program completion meeting industry standards.
• Long-term care experience required.
• Experience with care planning systems and documentation.
• Able to perform duties as assigned and read/write English.
• Positive communication with staff, residents and families.
• Cantonese or Mandarin an asset.
• Demonstrates empathy and quality resident care.
• Strong organizational skills and timely task completion.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.
• Encourage participation in activities and assist with mobility.
• Provide meal service and feeding assistance as needed.
• Offer emotional and social support, including palliative care.
• Follow policies on documentation, safety, infection control and fire safety.
• Inform supervisor of unit activities and resident care matters.
• Participate in care conferences and record care plans.
