Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Health Care Aide in Canada to provide personal care and support under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, mobility, and observation, while maintaining resident safety and confidentiality.

Qualifying as a Health Care Aide and experience with seniors are preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills, plus the ability to respond to emergencies, are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate)
• Experience working with seniors is preferred
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Interpersonal and customer focus skills
• Ability to perform personal care duties
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid recommended
• Vulnerable Sector Check required or willingness to obtain it

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the plan of care as directed by supervisor
• Assist with mobility, transfers and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in residents' condition
• Provide personal care and hygiene support
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information
• Ensure a safe, clean environment and respond to safety concerns
• Engage with residents, families, and other care providers as needed
