Job summary

Extendicare in Canada is seeking a Part-time PSW/HCA/CCA to provide direct personal support to residents in our long-term care homes. You will assist with ambulation, feeding, bathing, grooming, and daily activities in line with care plans.

Required: completion of a PSW program or HCA/CCA certification; experience in long-term care or community home care; ability to read and write English and to communicate with staff, residents, and families.

Qualifications

• Completed a PSW Program or HCA/CCA certification that meets the standards required for the position
• Experience in Long Term Care or community home care setting with exposure to dementia and palliative care is preferred
• Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation
• Ability to communicate positively with staff, residents/patients and families
• Ability to provide care in accordance with legislation, routines, nursing care plans, and to read/write English

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal support such as ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming
• Assist residents with daily activities in accordance with care plans
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure safety and comfort of residents
• Document observations and changes in residents' condition
• Maintain compassionate, respectful interactions with residents and families
