Job summary

Prairie Mountain Health in Hartney, MB is seeking a Health Care Aide for the Hartney Health Centre (Long Term Care). The 1.0 FTE role covers days and evenings with 7.75 hours per shift, under the supervision of the team leader.

The position adheres to the resident care plans and supports residents’ independence and dignity. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, documenting care, and participating in activity programs while maintaining safety and infection control

Qualifications

• Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) training.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
• Demonstrated communication skills
• Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
• Ability to display independent judgment
• Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population

• Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living to promote independence.
• Follow individualized care plans and report changes to the team leader.
• Document care in the client’s health record.
• Provide or assist with hygiene, mobility, meals and personal belongings.
• Maintain safety and infection prevention practices.
• Support admissions, transfers and discharges, including care after death.
• Organize and facilitate leisure activities for residents in evenings and weekends.
