Job summary

Extendicare is hiring a Dietary Aide to support meal service, setup, serving and cleanup in our Canadian long-term care residences. The role partners with the Food Services team to ensure quality meals and a clean dining experience for residents and guests.

The ideal candidate holds a Food Handler's Certificate, has customer-service skills, and can lift 20 lb and stand for long periods. VPS screening within 6 months is required; second language skills are an asset in a diverse resident community.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Experience in food service and with seniors preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills demonstrated.
• Physically able to lift 20 lb and stand for long periods.
• Second language proficiency is an asset.
• Current VPS screening within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional, courteous manner.
• Assist in setup and preparation of beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware and dining area.
• Help maintain kitchen and dining area cleanliness.
• Participate in catering and special events as needed.
• Assist in orientation and training of new dietary staff.
• Follow health and safety legislation and department procedures.
• Respect Resident Rights and participate in QA programs.
