Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Home Support Attendant / Resident Care Aide to provide compassionate in-home care under a care plan. You will assist with daily living activities and meals while promoting independence within the community.

Responsibilities include following delegated tasks, maintaining client well-being, and communicating with clients, families, and the care team. Evening shifts 14:00–22:30 rotate, with BC Care Aide Registry eligibility required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized Home Support Attendant/ Resident Care Aid Program.
  • Registration with the BC Care Aid Registry & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe.
  • Use of personal vehicle.
  • Or equivalent combination of current education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, oral hygiene).
  • Plan and prepare meals to promote independence.
  • Perform delegated tasks per training.
  • Ensure well-being and promote independent living in the community.

Position Summary

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position provides home support services to clients in accordance with a pre-established care plan. Assists with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, planning and preparing meals while promoting maximum independence. Performs delegated tasks for which delegation of tasks training has been completed. A key component of this job is to ensure the well‑being of individuals and families and to promote independent living while in the community.

Must have current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry
Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Evenings, 14:00 to 22:30 (rotating)
