Job summary

Interior Health invites applications for a Casual Community Health Worker at Kimberley Health Centre, BC. The role supports home-based client care, helping with personal care and daily living to promote independence within a team of nurses and LPNs.

Shifts include days and nights, with hours set on an as-needed basis; prior Home Support/Resident Care training and a valid BC driver’s license are required. Kimberley offers a vibrant community and extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide/Home Support Worker Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience
• BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker registry (please include your number)
• Current valid BC Drivers’ License and use of a reliable vehicle

Responsibilities

• Perform activities of daily personal care for clients (bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene)
• Assist with household duties to maintain a safe home environment
• Prepare meals according to designated plans
• Assist with mobility and transfers
• Observe and report changes in client behaviour and condition
• Perform delegated tasks according to training and procedures

About the Job

As a Community Health Worker, you will work as part of a dynamic team of Nurses and LPNs who support Community Clients’ independence and ability to stay at home. Community Health Workers provide home support services to clients, by assisting with personal care and daily living, while promoting maximum independence. Community Health Workers are key players in the home health care plan for each client.

Typical duties include

• Activities of daily personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene

• Assistance with mobility and transfers

This is a Casual opportunity

Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:00 to 15:30, 07:30 to 14:00, 08:30 to 16:30, 13:30 to 22:00 and 14:00 to 21:00 hours.
