Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Home Support Attendant to assist clients in the community, following a care plan and promoting independence. You will support daily living activities, meals, and personal care while ensuring safety and well-being.

Must have BC Care Aide Registry registration, a valid Class 5 license, CPR/First Aid and Food Safe certificates, and access to a personal vehicle for travel within Haida Gwaii region. This role offers meaningful, community-based work with Northern Health.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized Home Support Attendant/Resident Care Aid program.
  • Registration with the BC Care Aid & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers' License.
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe.
  • Use of personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home support services per a pre-established care plan.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, meals).
  • Promote independence and well-being in the community.
  • Perform delegated tasks after appropriate training.
  • Communicate with clients, families, and care team.

Position Summary

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position provides home support services to clients in accordance with a pre-established care plan. Assists with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, planning and preparing meals while promoting maximum independence. Performs delegated tasks for which delegation of tasks training has been completed. A key component of this job is to ensure the well-being of individuals and families and to promote independent living while in the community.

Must have current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry
Shift Rotation/Hours of work

Days, 07:30 to 19:15, 09:45 to 21:30 (Rotating)

Qualfications
  • Graduation from a recognized Home Support Attendant/ Resident Care Aid Program
  • Registration with the BC Care Aid & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers' License.
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe.
  • Use of personal vehicle.
  • Or equivalent combination of current education, training and experience.
