Job summary

Northern Health in Prince George, BC is seeking an experienced Nursing Unit Clerk to support the Nursing department. Under supervision, you will perform a variety of clerical duties, transcribe orders, coordinate appointments and maintain patient charts in a fast-paced care area.

Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Nursing Unit Clerk to support the Nursing department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Nursing Unit Assistant performs a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a care area. These duties include acting as a communication link for the Unit by transcribing and processing physicians' orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating appointments, arranging tests and receiving results, receiving and directing visitors, answering telephones, assembling and maintaining charts, and performing keyboarding and data entry responsibilities.

Nursing Unit Clerk certification is required for this position.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Evenings, Nights - 15:00 to 23:00, 23:00 to 07:00, Rotating

Qualfications
  • Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to keyboard 50 w.p.m.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
