Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers and students.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities, training, and appreciation initiatives.
  • Support and mentor peer advocates and community members.
  • Help plan and deliver community programs, workshops, and events.
  • Connect community members with services and resources.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners.
  • Promote CFC programs through events, schools, and social media.
  • Support initiatives related to food security, poverty, and social justice.
  • Participate in team meetings, planning, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Maintain records and protect privacy of community members.

Department: Community Food Centre

Responsible to: Director, Community Food Centre

EFT: 1.0 (Full-time)

Union: CUPE

Hourly Rate: $26.85 - $30.982 (Rates are effective Sept 30, 2026)

Start Date: October 1, 2026

End Date: Approx. October 1, 2027 (with possibility of extension)

Anticipated Shift: Days, may require occasional evenings and weekends

Education

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience
  • 3 years of experience in program development, community outreach, and group facilitation
  • Experience working with and supporting volunteers, students, and community members
  • Experience working with diverse communities and people from different backgrounds
  • Experience building relationships with community organizations and service providers
  • Knowledge of community resources, food security, poverty, and social justice
  • Experience with social media and community promotion is an asset
  • Counselling experience is an asset
