Job summary

SHARE Family & Community Services is seeking a Program Coordinator in Port Coquitlam to plan, implement and oversee the daily operations of the assigned program. The role involves coordinating volunteers, engaging with individuals and families, and collaborating with community partners to ensure evidence-based practice.

Job description

Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the day to day activities of the assigned program. This includes participating in program planning and delivery; coordination and support of volunteers; liaising with individuals and families accessing the service, and other service providers including community partners, contractors and other stakeholders; participating in program evaluation and in development/implementation of procedures which ensure evidence based practice.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in the day-to-day operation of the program(s) by ensuring program guidelines, and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
• Registers and orients individuals/families needing the service. This may include home visits to register individuals/families.
• Identifies the abilities, interests and needs of individuals/families; develops and provides support based on these.
• Plans, carries out and evaluates activities and services for individuals/families registered with the program. This may include providing direct and/or delivery service.
• Promotes public awareness and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
• Liaises with volunteers, community partners and other service providers including contractors over day-to-day issues.
• Ensures the safety of program volunteers and participants. Observes and removes potential hazards.
• Provides orientation, direction and support to volunteers in order that they carry out their duties in a competent manner. Recruits, screens, trains, schedules, supervises and plans the work of volunteers.
• Makes recommendations to the Supervisor regarding program evaluation to ensure that the program remains effective and efficient.
• Maintains related records and reports in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Education, Experience and Requirements

• A minimum post-secondary diploma in a field related to Social Work, Community Development, Food Security or related areas.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in program coordination including volunteer management, providing support to individuals/families, needs assessment, monitoring and evaluation.
• First Aid certificate, clear criminal record check and access to reliable vehicle required.
• Speaking Farsi will be considered an asset.
• Able to work effectively with individuals/families, volunteers, other service providers including contractors, community partners and other stakeholders related to food security projects.
• They will have demonstrated strong leadership, instructional, written and oral skills.
• Must have appropriate car insurance coverage, when using personal car on agency business.

Closing Date: September 28, 2026 (open until filed)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Port Coquitlam

Hours of work: 21 Hours per week Monday – Friday. Some evenings may be required.

Contract End date: 6 months from the date of hire or until the incumbent returns.
