Job summary

The City of Laval is seeking a temporary Library Assistant for CLSDS Collection Development in Laval. You will verify orders, process documents, and use the library management system to transmit items to libraries and suppliers.

Requires a Grade 12 diploma, 3 months of relevant experience, comfort with computers, and strong French communication. The role is in-person with a 33-hour work week and competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and enter information related to collection development and inventories.
  • Operate office devices and report operational anomalies as per policies.

SCHEDULE: 33.00 hours per week, DAY; MONDAY to THURSDAY or TUESDAY to FRIDAY - 08:15 to 17:30

The challenges that await you

Following precise instructions, the responsible person performs various verification, shipping, and processing tasks for documents and items intended for libraries.

More specifically, you:

  • Verify the accuracy of orders and invoices and check the physical condition of received documents and items;
  • Use the appropriate modules of the integrated library management system to transmit documents and items to libraries and/or suppliers;
  • Perform material preparation and minor repairs on documents/items;
  • Verify, compile, and enter any information related to collection development and inventories;
  • Use all office devices and equipment made available to you in the course of your responsibilities and report any operational anomalies according to established policies and procedures.
The ideal profile for us
  • Hold a secondary school diploma (Grade 12);
  • Have three (3) months of relevant experience for the position;
  • Be comfortable with computers;
  • Enjoy dynamic work;
  • Have good communication skills in French, both oral and written;
  • Care about the satisfaction of the citizens of the City of Laval;
