Job summary

Elmer’s Manufacturing Ltd. is seeking a Quality Technician Student for a 4- or 8-month term in our Manitoba facility near Altona. The role involves working with a quality team to identify root causes, draft QIRs/CARs, and collaborate with production to implement fixes.

You will inspect components, record data, and read BOM and manufacturing drawings. Prior metrology exposure and strong communication are valued traits.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution with an interest in quality.
• Able to read and understand technical documentation (BOM/welding/machining/laser cut drawings).
• Metrology experience or familiarity with mechanical measurement tools.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Hands-on mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify root cause of issues and recommend fixes for quality and supply chain processes.
• Prepare Quality Issue Reports (QIRs) and Corrective Action Reports (CARs) for non-conformance.
• Collaborate with production staff to investigate, document non-conformances, and implement solutions.
• Perform assembly and disassembly of mechanical components for inspection.
• Inspect components using measurement tools to assess conformance.
• Record measurement and process data for quality control or process improvement.

We have an upcoming opportunity in the Quality Department as a Quality Technician Student, where we are looking for high-energy collaborators who are passionate about team success.

Availability: 4-month or 8-month term

In This Role You Will

• Work under the direction of a Quality Technician to identify root cause of issues and recommend fixes for quality and other supply chain processes.
• Occasional preparation of Quality Issue Reports (QIR’s) and Corrective Action Reports (CAR’s) for non-conformance and facilitates corrective action(s).
• Collaborate with production staff to investigate, document non-conformances, and implement solutions.
• Perform assembly and disassembly of mechanical components for inspection.
• Inspect components using measurement tools and other equipment to assess conformance.
• Record measurement and process data for quality control or process improvement initiatives.
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution with an interest in quality
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation (BOM/welding/machining/laser cut drawings)
• Metrology experience / familiarity with mechanical measurement tools
• Good written and verbal communication
• Hands on mechanical experience

Considered an asset:

• Experience with machining, welding and/or assembly in a manufacturing setting
• Report writing experience.
