Job summary

BDO Canada in Halifax is seeking a Co-op student or Intern to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team from January to April 2027. You will gain hands‑on experience preparing financial statements and building client relationships while supporting tax work and accounting analyses.

You are pursuing an accounting degree and are interested in long‑term growth within the Financial Reporting & Insights team, with familiarity in QuickBooks, Xero or Sage a plus.

Qualifications

  • You are pursuing a degree/diploma in accounting and seek long‑term growth in Financial Reporting & Insights.
  • You may have experience or certifications with QuickBooks, Xero and/or Sage.
  • You value teamwork, client service, and delivering high‑quality, detailed work.
  • You display strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently prepare financial statements for Notice to Reader and Review engagement.
  • Prepare working files for income tax and information returns for a variety of client sizes.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and respond to requests and suggestions.
  • Complete ongoing accounting analyses following procedures.
  • Communicate progress updates and issues with team members.
  • Assist other departments with various accounting functions.

Your Opportunity: Our Halifax office is looking for a Co-op student or Intern to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team from January to April 2027.

Your Responsibilities
  • Efficiently prepare financial statements for Notice to Reader and Review engagement
  • Prepare working files for income tax and information returns for a variety of client sizes
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and effectively respond to request and suggestions
  • Completion of ongoing accounting analysis and assignments following established procedures
  • Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis
  • Assisting other departments when needed with various Accounting functions

Experience and Education
  • You are currently working towards a degree/diploma, focused in accounting
  • You are interested in long term growth within the Financial Reporting & Insights team
  • You may have experience or certifications with Quickbooks, Xero and/or Sage
  • You value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work
  • You display strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
