Join to apply for the Cloud Field Engineering Manager role at Canonical
This is an opportunity to lead a field engineering team, helping customers understand and implement Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The role involves working with a spectrum of cloud offerings, from Ubuntu to virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and advanced open source solutions like MLops platforms and data platforms. As Canonical expands into new industries such as telco, finance, healthcare, and media, we develop new open source solutions to meet evolving needs.
We believe outstanding engineers should also be effective managers. Managers should be capable of troubleshooting, engaging in technical presales, and contributing directly to project delivery, while also shaping team direction and focus. We focus on developing both technical and soft skills in our engineers.
Our goal is to make open source easier, reliable, and secure, aiming to provide 'most software to most companies'. We select engineers globally for brilliance and motivation, and our managers help teams reach their full potential and take pride in their accomplishments.
The team of cloud solutions architects at Canonical works directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions tailored to their workloads. The portfolio includes on-premise solutions like Openstack, MicroCloud, Ceph, and deployable solutions such as Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL, etc. Managers and team members deploy, test, and hand over solutions, and participate in presales to provide technical advice.
The manager is responsible for line management, career guidance, developing engineering talent, representing the team technically, and collaborating across teams and with customers. Active participation in technical presales is also expected.
This role is home-based, managing a team within your time zone.
We offer competitive worldwide compensation, annual reviews, performance bonuses, and benefits reflecting our values. Our perks include:
