This is an opportunity to lead a field engineering team, assisting customers in understanding and implementing Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The role covers a broad spectrum of cloud technologies, including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and advanced open source platforms like MLops and data solutions. As Canonical expands into new industries such as telco, finance, healthcare, and media, we develop new open source solutions tailored to their needs.
We believe outstanding engineering managers are also excellent engineers, comfortable troubleshooting and engaging in technical presales. They contribute technically but primarily focus on guiding their team's direction, focus, and delivery. We foster management skills among engineers interested in soft skills, preparing them for leadership roles.

The team of cloud solutions architects at Canonical works directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions suited to their workloads. The portfolio includes on-premise solutions like Openstack, MicroCloud, Ceph, and deployable solutions such as Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, and PostgreSQL. Managers and team members deploy, test, and transition solutions to support or managed services teams, and participate in presales to advise customers technically.
The manager oversees line management, career development, and representing the team technically. Active participation in presales and collaboration with other teams and stakeholders are key to success.
This role is home-based, managing a team within your time zone.
