As Canonical expands into new industries such as telco, finance, healthcare, and media, we develop new open source solutions to meet industry needs.
We believe Engineering Managers should be outstanding engineers, comfortable troubleshooting and engaging in technical presales. They should contribute technically but focus more on guiding the team’s direction, focus, and delivery. We nurture management skills and soft skills development for engineers interested in management roles.
Our goal is to make open source more accessible, reliable, and secure, aiming to provide 'most software to most companies.' We select engineers globally for brilliance and motivation, and our managers help teams achieve their potential and take pride in their results.
The team of cloud solutions architects works directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions tailored to their workloads. The portfolio includes on-premise solutions like OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph, and deployable solutions such as Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, and PostgreSQL. Managers oversee deployment, testing, and handover, and participate in presales to provide technical advice.
The manager is responsible for line management, career development, technical representation, and collaboration with other teams and customers. Active participation in presales to help meet quarterly goals is expected.
This role is home-based, managing a team in your time zone.
Compensation is based on location, experience, and performance, reviewed annually. Benefits include a USD 2,000 learning budget, annual reviews, recognition rewards, leave, parental leave, Employee Assistance Programme, travel opportunities, and travel upgrades for company events.
