Job description

Summary:

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for growing the business and developing personnel within one or more specialized merchandise departments at a Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s retail location. The GSM will lead exceptional customer service and operational excellence by engaging Outfitters in all aspects of department operations, including merchandise presentation, inventory management, pricing, sales strategies, staff recruitment, and development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support a commitment to world-class customer service, ensuring a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  2. Meet or exceed all financial targets and plans.
  3. Implement and oversee all sales event strategies.
  4. Serve as Manager on Duty, including opening and closing the store.
  5. Maintain accurate and appealing planograms.
  6. Ensure all standards of cleanliness and safety are upheld.
  7. Staff departments with service-oriented Outfitters; participate in hiring, coordinate training, evaluate performance, prepare schedules, and motivate team members to foster positive customer relations and a collaborative work environment.
  8. Resolve customer and Outfitter issues promptly and effectively.
  9. Perform management functions in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of retail management experience with responsibilities in sales and merchandising.
  • Proficiency in financial calculations such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to read and analyze reports and data relevant to retail operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Understanding of financial, compliance, safety, and technical information related to retail.
  • Excellent report writing and business communication skills.
  • Effective presentation and interpersonal skills for group meetings and customer interactions.
  • Ability to learn and utilize various office and retail technology applications.
  • Ability to obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (P.A.L.).
