Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a Class 5 Driver to deliver and pick up construction equipment in Vancouver, BC. You will securely load and unload equipment, maintain records, and perform routine vehicle inspections.

The role requires a valid BC Class 5 license, the ability to work outdoors year-round, and strong communication with customers and dispatch. Overtime may be available, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean/satisfactory abstract.
• Experience operating and transporting construction equipment or heavy loads.
• Experience driving heavy trucks or pulling trailers is an asset.
• Commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Strong communication and safety-focused mindset are essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pickup a diverse fleet of construction equipment to customer jobsites.

Perks!** * Competitive salary, with overtime available* Excellent benefit package with premiums paid by the company* Uniform, safety boots/shoes, safety gear provided* RRSP Match* Safety-minded organization* Stable, year-round employment* Continuous training, learning and development opportunities* Fun-loving work environment with strong social responsibility**What You’ll Be Doing** *Duties and Responsibilities:* * Deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.* Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.* Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.* Perform vehicle inspections daily, as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels.* Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.* Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.* Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.* Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.* Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified* If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get the customer’s signature. Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets. Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.* Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.* Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.* Complete daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs and timesheets.* Maintain a clean and organized equipment yard and wash bay area.* Wash, dry, and detail equipment using pressure washers, vacuums, and cleaning agents.* Check equipment for damage when returned to the yard, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.**What You’ll Bring to the Team** *Qualifications and Requirements*: * Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points).You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.* Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of construction equipment, or other types of heavy loads is an asset.* Prior commercial driving experience is an asset.* Experience driving heavy trucks and/or pulling trailers is an asset (for example Class 5 roll-off trucks, flat decks, or heavy-duty pick-up trucks).* Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.* Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.* Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.* Available and willing to work overtime when needed.* Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.* Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.* Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.* Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
