Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a dedicated driver to deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment. You will load and secure loads, inspect vehicles daily, and maintain accurate records while delivering excellent customer service.

We value safety, reliability, and the ability to work overtime when needed. This onsite role requires outdoor work year-round and strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean/satisfactory abstract.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of construction equipment.
• Prior commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Experience driving heavy trucks and/or pulling trailers is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pickup a diverse fleet of construction equipment to/from customer jobsites.
• Load/unload equipment; secure per safety procedures and inspect en route.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and check fluids.
• Obtain customer signature on contracts when needed.
• Inform supervisor of delivery/pickup difficulties.
• Identify new sales opportunities and notify management of new job sites.
• Ensure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Coordinate with dispatch if behind schedule.
• Complete relevant forms for missing/damaged equipment and obtain signatures.
• Provide basic safety instruction to customers on equipment use.
• Keep truck clean and professional at all times.
• Complete daily pre/post-inspections and regulatory logs.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.
• Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• Perform vehicle inspections daily, as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels.
• Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified
• If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get the customer’s signature. Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets. Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
• Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.
• Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.
• Complete daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs and timesheets.

Qualifications And Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of construction equipment, or other types of heavy loads is an asset.
• Prior commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Experience driving heavy trucks and/or pulling trailers is an asset (for example Class G/5 Roll-Off trucks, flat decks, or heavy-duty pick-up trucks).
• Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
• Comfortable with city driving.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
• Available and willing to work overtime when required.
• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
• Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
