Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals in Surrey, BC is seeking customer-oriented, motivated individuals to join our professional team. You’ll deliver and pickup a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites, inspect and record details, and maintain safety standards.

Applicants must hold a valid Class 5 license with a clean abstract, be able to lift ~50 lbs, and work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of construction equipment, or other heavy loads is an asset.
• Prior commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Experience driving heavy trucks and/or pulling trailers is an asset (Class G/5 Roll-Off trucks, flat decks, or heavy-duty pickups).
• Comfortable with outdoor work year-round and driving in varying weather/road conditions.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and responsibility as a driver.
• Willing to work overtime and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.
• Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company procedures and inspect in transit.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• Perform vehicle inspections daily and check fluid levels.
• Obtain customer signature on contracts and inform supervisor of issues.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Ensure customers receive exactly what they ordered and communicate delays to dispatch.
• Turn in forms to Branch Manager with pick up sheets and tag broken equipment for repair.
• Provide basic instruction on safe operation of equipment when needed.
• Keep the truck clean and professional at all times.
• Complete daily pre-inspections and post-inspections logs and maintain yard cleanliness.

What You’ll Be Doing Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.
• Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• Perform vehicle inspections daily, as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels.
• Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified
• If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get the customer’s signature.
• Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets.
• Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
• Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.
• Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.
• Complete daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs and timesheets.
• Maintain a clean and organized equipment yard and wash bay area.
• Wash, dry, and detail equipment using pressure washers, vacuums, and cleaning agents.
• Check equipment for damage when returned to the yard, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.

What You’ll Bring to the Team Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of construction equipment, or other types of heavy loads is an asset.
• Prior commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Experience driving heavy trucks and/or pulling trailers is an asset (for example Class G/5 Roll-Off trucks, flat decks, or heavy-duty pick-up trucks).
• Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
• Available and willing to work overtime when required. Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

• Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
