Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals in Surrey, BC is seeking a customer-oriented delivery driver to operate and transport a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites. You will load and unload, secure loads, perform pre/post inspections, and maintain accurate records while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires a valid Class 5 license, experience with heavy loads, and the ability to work outdoors year-round.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 license with clean driving record.
• Experience operating, loading, securing and transporting construction equipment or heavy loads.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Good communication with customers, dispatch and management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.
• Load/unload, secure loads, and inspect equipment for safety in transit.
• Maintain delivery/pickup records and perform daily vehicle inspections.
• Report any damage and coordinate with dispatch for delays and changes.
• Provide basic instruction to customers on safe operation when needed.

Perks!Competitive salary, with overtime availableExcellent benefit package with premiums paid by the companyUniform, safety boots/shoes, safety gear providedRRSP MatchSafety-minded organizationStable, year-round employmentContinuous training, learning and development opportunitiesFun-loving work environment with strong social responsibilityWhat You’ll Be DoingDuties and Responsibilities:Deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.Perform vehicle inspections daily, as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels.Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notifiedIf equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get the customer’s signature. Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets. Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.Complete daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs and timesheets.Maintain a clean and organized equipment yard and wash bay area.Wash, dry, and detail equipment using pressure washers, vacuums, and cleaning agents.Check equipment for damage when returned to the yard, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.What You’ll Bring to the TeamQualifications and Requirements:Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of construction equipment, or other types of heavy loads is an asset.Prior commercial driving experience is an asset.Experience driving heavy trucks and/or pulling trailers is an asset (for example Class G/5 Roll-Off trucks, flat decks, or heavy-duty pick-up trucks).Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.Available and willing to work overtime when required.Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.Want to learn more about career opportunities at Cooper Equipment Rentals?
