Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking a customer-oriented driver to load, deliver, and pickup equipment across Timmins. You will secure loads, inspect equipment, and ensure accurate records, communicating with dispatch to meet schedules.

Qualified candidates have a valid DZ license, knowledge of local roads, and flexibility for overtime. Prior experience with heavy construction equipment is an asset; pre-employment drug testing may apply.

Qualifications

• Valid Class DZ driver's license with a clean or satisfactory driver's abstract (no more than three demerit points).
• Familiar with local roads.
• Experience with operating and delivering heavy construction equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment and secure it per company procedure.
• Deliver and pick up equipment.
• Maintain delivery/pickup records.
• Obtain customer signature on contracts when needed.
• Inform supervisor of delivery/pickup difficulties.
• Notify management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double-check delivered items match orders.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company procedure and inspect in transit if necessary.
• Deliver and pick up equipment.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified.
• Instruct customers on equipment operation.
• If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get customer’s signature. Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets. Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
• Perform vehicle inspections daily, as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels.
• Complete daily field level hazard assessments and personal protective equipment inspections on E-Compliance (safety management software).

Qualifications And Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Valid Class DZ driver's license with a clean or satisfactory driver's abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver's abstract upon request.
• Familiar with local roads.
• Experience with operating and delivering heavy construction equipment is an asset (earthmoving equipment as well as aerial equipment such as telehandlers, boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.).
• Pre-access drug & alcohol testing is a requirement for certain jobsites
• Available and willing to work overtime as needed.
• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with colleagues, customers, and other parties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
