Qualifications

  • Able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs as needed.
  • Mechanical experience and aptitude.
  • Able to read blueprints and measuring devices.
  • Safety training is an asset and will be provided as required.
  • Basic computer skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate vehicles to transport goods on local or short-distance routes.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service status per regulations.
  • Load, secure, and unload materials within legal weight and size limits.
  • Perform pre-trip, enroute, and post-trip inspections for safety and maintenance.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, or damages.
  • Schedule maintenance as required.
  • Work in truck assembly 25% of the time during downtime and assemble major/minor sub-assemblies.
  • Maintain organized work area, fill systems with fluids, and ensure quality standards.

Description

Foremost has an immediate opportunity for a Class 3 Driver/ Mechanical Truck Assembly in our Stettler facility, reporting into the Foreman for Truck Assembly. The position is key responsible for operating our semi-trucks and performing all aspects of truck assembly while working with other employees as part of a team, and in cooperation/collaboration with other shifts and departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate vehicles to transport goods and materials on local or short-distance routes.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial regulations.
  • Load, secure, and unload materials safely according to legal weight and size limits.
  • Complete pre-trip, enroute, and post rip check on brakes, tires, lights, and equipment for mechanical issues and safety concerns and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Responsible for paying for any traffic violations/tickets that you may receive.
  • Responsible for scheduling maintenance as required.
  • Working in the truck assembly 25% of the time on downtime
  • Install or assemble any major or minor sub-assemblies in hydrovac trucks and related components.
  • Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Fill vehicle systems with fluids, coolants, and oil.
  • Ensures assemblies meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Performs other tasks related to his/her classification.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 3 drivers license with air brakes endorsement is required (drivers abstract is required).
  • Able to lift a maximum of 50lbs at times as required by the job.
  • Mechanical experience and aptitude
  • Basic computer skills are a definite plus, but not necessary.
  • Able to read blueprints and several types of measuring devices.
  • Work in a crouched position at times, crawl under trucks, climb ladders, and stand on concrete floors for lengthy periods as needed to do various job tasks.
  • Maintains a set of tools required to perform assembly functions.
  • Safety Training an asset but will train as required.
  • Initiative-taking, with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and safety
