Job summary

Van-Kam Freightways in Prince George, BC is seeking a Class 1 Driver to join our team. Based in Prince George, you will perform pre-trip inspections, assist with loading/unloading, and keep accurate delivery records while delivering across BC and Alberta.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class 1 license and Class 1 driving experience.
• Experience with forklift operation and pickup & delivery (P&D).
• Ability to drive at night.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to operate in adverse weather and perform chain-up procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Assist with loading/unloading trailer when necessary.
• Report issues promptly to ensure safety and compliance.
• Comply with transportation regulations and hours of service.
• Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with Dispatch and provide outstanding customer service.
• Uphold safety and security standards at all times.

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting pre-trip and post trip inspections.
• When necessary, assist with loading/unloading trailer.
• Reporting any issues promptly.
• Complying with all regulations regarding transportation and hours of service.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with Dispatch team members and provide outstanding customer service.
• Must comply with all transportation and safety regulation as required.
• Uphold security standards at all times.

What gets you in the driver’s seat:

• Valid Class 1 Drivers License is required
• Previous Class 1 driving, forklift operating, and pickup and delivery (P&D) experience is required
• Ability to drive at night is required
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
• Must be able to handle with adverse weather conditions and chain up fully as weather indicates.
