Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking a Class 1 Driver to support local and regional deliveries around Vancouver, BC. This full-time role offers varied shifts and day-to-day driving across city and regional routes, with emphasis on safety, reliability, and customer service.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Class 1 license, a clean CVOR, and recent commercial driving experience. Winter driving skills and ability to lift up to 75 lbs are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver's license.
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Clean CVOR and driver's abstract.
• Recent commercial driving experience (past 3–12 months).
• Winter driving experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight across city and local routes.
• Complete deliveries and pickups to customer locations within Vancouver and BC in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
• Operate reefer equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Secure freight using appropriate equipment such as straps, chains, and load bars, ensuring compliance with load‑securement standards.
• Transport temperature-controlled goods in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
• Accurately complete all required documentation, including e-logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports.
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures.
• Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required

Core Requirements (All Driver Roles)

• Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions
• Ability to accurately complete eLogs, vehicle inspection reports, and delivery documentation
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required
• Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach
• Minimum 1-5 year of verifiable Class 1 driving experience
• Strong knowledge of Vancouver and surrounding areas
• Ability to safely perform hand-bombing, including manual loading and unloading of freight, as required
