Job summary

John Ross & Sons Ltd., Halifax-based metal recycler, is seeking energetic and safety minded drivers to join our team. In this full-time role, you will transport metal products across the Maritimes, ensure cargo safety, haul recycling products, and gather delivery paperwork with accurate log hours.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM, with Saturday half-days as needed. Pay range is $24.00–$31.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 or Class 3 license required.
• Clean driver's abstract required.
• At least 2 years of Class 1/3 driving experience in Canada.
• Safety-minded with good communication skills.
• Ability to drive in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Transport metal products across the Maritimes.
• Ensure safety and security of cargo.
• Haul various metal recycling products.
• Gather paperwork for deliveries and log hours accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.
• Report deficiencies to management.

John Ross & Sons Ltd. is a fifth generation, family owned, metal recycler. The company is the largest metal recycler in Atlantic Canada and has been in operation for over 80 years. John Ross & Sons Ltd. specializes in purchasing and processing all ferrous and non-ferrous metals, along with accepting a wide range of recyclable material to process.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Help to transport metal products across the Maritimes
• Ensuring safety and security of cargo
• Hauling various metal recycling products
• Gather appropriate paperwork for deliveriesProperly record hours and mileage in logbook
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to management

Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid Class 1 or Class 3 License is mandatory
• Clean Drivers Abstract is mandatory
• Minimum 2 years driving experience in a Class 1 or Class 3 role in Canada is mandatory
• Safety driven mindset
• Clear communication skills
• Comfortable driving in all weather conditions

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Saturdays as needed, 6:30am-12pm

Pay Range: $24.00/hr - $31.00/hr
