Job summary

WalterFedy is seeking a Civil Project Engineer in Ontario to lead complex engineering assignments with autonomy, focusing on sewer, water, earthworks, and road projects. This role emphasizes collaboration with clients and agencies while solving design challenges and optimizing costs.

The position requires a PE license and a minimum of seven years in engineering, preferably in consulting, with strong communication and project-management skills to deliver on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably within a consulting environment.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and best practices.

• Plan and conduct complex engineering assignments with minimal supervision.
• Modify established guidelines and devise new approaches to meet project requirements.
• Apply existing criteria in new ways and draw conclusions from comparative situations.
• Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower costs or enhance work quality.
• Providing technical guidance on projects involving sewer systems, water management, earthworks, and road infrastructure.
• Investigate and solve unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches or applying existing criteria in innovative ways.
• Coordinate difficult and responsible tasks, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and external agencies.
• Discuss design problems, explain design features and specifications, and outline project control criteria.
• Establish and maintain client contacts to seek or provide technical information related to projects.
• Communicate effectively with clients to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Manage mid-sized to large projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and performance objectives.
• Prepare progress reports, recommend design changes, estimate costs, and recommend payments for completed work.
