Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Professional engineering certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge and codes to projects.
  • Develop design solutions for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate work with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Consult with suppliers to secure project procedures.
  • Prepare progress reports and cost estimates.
  • Support planning to meet budget, schedule, and performance goals.
  • Maintain awareness of architectural and engineering disciplines.

Role at a Glance

The Mechanical Engineer plays a key role in shaping innovative and sustainable building solutions from concept through completion. Working on a diverse range of projects, the Mechanical Engineer applies technical expertise, creativity, and sound engineering judgment to solve complex challenges, develop effective design solutions, and deliver exceptional results for clients. This role collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to bring projects to life while balancing quality, performance, budget, and schedule objectives. The Mechanical Engineer is a trusted contributor who helps drive project success and creates meaningful impact on the built environment.

What You Will Do
  • Perform responsible and varied engineering assignments, applying comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering and its impact on other disciplines, applying National and Provincial Building Codes, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Solve problems using a combination of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, or methods developed from previous assignments for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems in a variety of projects.
  • Interpret customer requirements, investigate design and field engineering difficulties, and coordinate work schedules.
  • Consult with suppliers independently to secure appropriate procedures for projects.
  • Contact approval agencies and clients as directed by senior engineers.
  • Participate in planning to achieve prescribed budget, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Prepare progress reports, recommend changes in designs, estimate costs, and recommend payments for completed work.
  • Maintain knowledge of related architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Refer unusual problems to senior engineers or specialists.
  • Contact associates in other departments to discuss and advise on project requirements.
  • Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the team and company objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to our company values of quality, client focus, teamwork, sustainability, and community, integrating these principles into daily work practices and interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • 2+ years of Cleanroom experience.
  • Professional engineering certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and methods.
  • Experience with engineering software and tools (e.g., Revit, CAD, Load Calculation software).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and judgment in solving complex issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with related architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and coordinate work schedules.
  • Proficiency in preparing progress reports.
