Job summary

WalterFedy is seeking a Mechanical Engineering graduate to assist in applying engineering knowledge to projects, preparing plans, drawings, and calculations, and supporting field inspections.   • Carry out routine surveys and help prepare reports and field inspections.
  • Learn and apply national/provincial codes and standards; work with clients as needed.

This role involves performing routine engineering tasks, preparing plans, designs, and calculations, conducting technical surveys, and assisting in the preparation of reports and field inspection reports.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and apply knowledge and skills learned during formal education in the mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Perform routine engineering tasks under close supervision, including preparing basic plans, designs, calculations, and drawings for assigned projects using Revit, or other specified software, in compliance with established codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Consistently take initiative to execute tasks successfully, meeting deadlines and commitments set by senior team members.
  • Assist in modifying existing designs (red line changes) and make suggestions to modify design approvals or materials for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems.
  • Carry out routine technical surveys and assist in preparing various reports, correspondence, and field inspection reports.
  • Develop strong knowledge of national and provincial building codes, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other related standards.
  • Work directly with the clients under guidance, as required.
  • Collaborate with more experienced technical personnel on specific aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the engineering teams and company objectives.

What you bring to the table
  • Graduating or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, applied sciences or related field.
  • Proficiency in engineering and office software and tools (e.g., Revit, CAD software, Microsoft, etc.).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to work under close supervision and follow established procedures.
  • Registered or pursuing registration with provincial governing body (eg. PEO, APEGA etc.)
