Job summary

WalterFedy is seeking a Contract Administrator – Architecture and Engineering in Calgary to support multiple project teams. You will prepare documents, coordinate meetings, and manage RFI/changes from pre-qualification to close-out.

The role requires at least four years in an architectural/engineering office, a relevant degree, and experience with CCDC contracts, site reviews, and BIM/document management tools such as Revit and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an architectural or engineering office environment, working in a construction administrator capacity.
  • Experience administering CCDC contracts and coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
  • Experience conducting construction site reviews and preparing field reports.
  • Excellent proficiency in document management platforms and construction documentation workflows.
  • Strong communication and organization skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of start-up meeting minutes.
  • Participate in construction meetings and provide technical guidance regarding project documentation and industry best practices.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control Reviews.
  • Preparation and tracking of requests for information, supplemental instructions, proposed changes, change orders.
  • Routing, tracking and review of shop drawings.
  • Conduct regular site visits; prepare field reviews and deficiency review reports.
  • Routing, tracking and review of close-out documents.
  • Pre-qualification and tendering procedures including bid invitations, addenda, tender evaluation reports and letters of intent.
  • CCDC contract preparation and administration.
  • Preparation of certificates of payments and substantial performance certificates.

The Contract Administrator – Architecture and Engineering is responsible for providing construction and contract administrator support in the day-to-day functions of our Architectural teams. The Contract Administrator will do this through coordination and preparation of documents for all project phases starting from pre-qualification and tendering, through to close-outs. This role will require the Contract Administrator to work on multiple projects and with various administrators at one time.

What You Will Do
  • Preparation of start-up meeting minutes.
  • Participate in construction meetings andprovidetechnical guidanceregardingproject documentation and industry best practices.

  • Participate in pre-qualification and tendering procedures which include preparation of bid invitations, bidders’ record lists, addenda, tender evaluation reports, tender not accepted letters and letters of intent.
  • CCDC contract preparation and administration.
  • Preparation of certificate of payments.
  • Preparation of substantial performance certificates and sign-off letters.
  • Regulatory compliance and coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Scheduling one-year warranty walk-throughs.
  • Coordinate and communicate regularly with contract administrators, designers, contractors and owners.
What you bring to the table
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an architectural or engineering office environment, working in a construction administrator capacity.
  • Degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Building Science, or related discipline.
  • Experience administering CCDC contracts and coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
  • Experience conducting construction site reviews and preparing field reports.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Construction document management platforms.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit, LEED Accreditation and PMP designationconsideredassets.
  • Self-motivated and has demonstrated initiative
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution abilities, sound judgment in evaluating construction issues and contract compliance matters.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction and correspondence with team and customers
  • Eager to learn and take on new challenges, with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed.

  • Note: Preference will be given to individuals who have exposure to the architecture, engineering or construction industry.
